The Bishop of Cape Town presented a memorial to the

Treasury asking for compensation for his expenses in the proceedings against the Bishop of Natal. The Lords of the Treasury deny the prayer. After Me. Long's case, the attempt to exercise a coercive jurisdic- tion must have been known by him to be illegal, and if he chose to incur the risk, "it certainly cannot be expected that Her Majesty's Government should relieve him from the consequences." Dr. Gray has one resource. His friends in Convocation have offered him very liberally their "condolences." Might they not go further, and, like Dr. Colenso's friends, find him actual funds? Or are the children of this world too wise in their generation to be guilty of the imprudent generosity of the children of light?
