We are peculiarly glad to see a second edition of

Essays and Addresses, by the Yen. James M. Wilson. This attempt to treat some religious questions in a "scientific spirit" was recognised at once on its appearance as an honest and able effort, made by one who has a great knowledge of human nature, can see all round a question, knows his own mind, and has the courage to put his thoughts into clear language. This cheaper edition should reach a wider circle, and extend the good already done by this candid and powerful book.
