They were written before I saw Dr. Warren's version :- Unto the valour of these was due, that never to heaven Tegea's smoke uprose with its wide waya fired by the foes: Theirs leas the choice to bequeath to their children, thriving in freedom, Country and home all well, while they with the foremost fell.
