Dare to be a catman

Sir: Your printed version of my letter about cats (22 March) has nearly persuaded me to buy a typewriter, as my writing (in Latin and Greek at any rate) is unreadable.

To set the record straight, for feles read fells; for Alticanz read Atticum: for D01719S11171 read Donorum; and, please, a sigma and not zeta on the end of maovpos.

As I remarked before, accuracy is important; not least when quoting the writings of eminent classical scholars of the standing of Dr Shackle- ton Bailey (who tells me, incidentally, that by the fourth century calms would have been allowed).
