PC world of the NYT

From Mr Claus von 'Allow Sir: Boris Johnson (Well, hush my mouth', 22 March) expresses surprise at the politically correct censorship which rules at the New York Times. This is nothing new. In the Sixties I asked a senior editor at the New York Times why they never wrote about the several civil wars then raging on the African continent. He answered that the Times was supporting civil rights for blacks and did not want such African news items to confuse the readers. Maybe it is this kind of censorship which your New York resident columnist, Taki, occasionally finds provocative? Claus von Bulow
