REAR LIGHTS FOR BICYCLES [To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.]

Sin,--Mr. G. Herbert Stanccr is the mouthpiece of a small clique who profess to believe that the danger to cyclists on roads will 'be increased by their being compelled to make themselves visible, by lamp or reflector.

In these days of extremely powerful headlights to suggest that a motorist cannot pull up within the range of his vision is obviously absurd.

I have driven thousands of miles at night, and, thOugh I have never touched a cyclist, I never drive after dark siyitlunit a deadly fear of doing 'so.--I am; Sir, &c., County Club, 'Leicester. I. II. IRS INI:.
