GUARDIAN ASSURANCE RESULTS.

The accounts for last year show that the gross new business in the Life Department was £1,418,000 against £1,274,000 and the net business was £1,160,000 against £1,153,000. The Fire premium income increased by about £80,000 and the underwriting surplus was larger. In the Accident and General Departments the premium was £573,000 against £514,000. On the other hand, the underwriting surplus, after setting aside 45 per cent. of premiums for unexpired risks, was smaller than in the previous year. The balance at credit of Profit and Loss was £179,000 while the total assets at the end of the year were just under £11,000,000.
