TWO YEARS OF MAU MAU SIR.—Your note of October 22

under the above heading has touched an anxiety that many people feel. One wonders whether the present policy in Kenya deals with symptorn' only or does it get right down to the cause of the Mau Mau ?

Many of us have heard the Bishop of Mombasa or have read the book Mau Mali and the Kikuyu by his brother-in-law, Dr, L. S. B. Leakey (the White Kikuyu). One feels that these are wise men with great experience of Kenya who have in addition the interest of all sections of the community at heart. Are they being listened to or pushed on one side ? Is there a really enlightened policy towards Kenya and other parts of Africa or is it just a matter of muddling through ?—Yours faithfully,
