The tyrant's plea

Sir: I regret that, due to a mis-hearing on the tele- phone, my article about the Enfield case (22 Sep- tember) states that counsel for the Minister sub- mitted that parents and assistant masters 'might not be consulted at all.' This should have read 'need not.' Even Mr Gordon Walker did not go so far as to suggest that those most closely concerned should be positively prohibited from presenting their views—merely that no attention need be paid to them.
