UNLETTERED

A reader recently received the follow- ing letter from Times Newspapers Li- mited:

Thank you for your letter dated 18th June and your interest in Times Newspapers Limited.

Unfortunately, International Classified have no record of receiving your telex of 15th April 1990, even though it was confirmed by Telecom in Holland.

Unforunately [sic], many departments within News International have the use of this Telex machine and I can only assume it was picked up by another department in error. This is not a regular occurance [sic] and I offer my sincere apologies for the inconvience [sic] that this may of [sic] caused.

If you have an example of a crass, illiterate, ignorant, irrelevant or embar- rassing letter from a company or public body, send a copy to Unlettered, The Spectator, 56 Doughty Street, London WC1N 2LL; £10 for each one printed.
