A Court of Directors was held at the East India House on Wed- nesday; when Lord Elohinstone was elected Governor of the Presi- dency of Fort St. George. The very valuable appointment of Colonel of the Fourth or Queen's Own Light Dragoons, has become vacant by the death of General 1 lugonin.

Dr. Similes, one of the senior Fellows of Trinity College, Dublin, is to be appointed the new Bishop of Clonfert. He has always been a most consistent Liberal, and is a man of great learning and piety.— ..Mr/any l hroniele.
