On Wednesday the Bishops in Convocation decided that the Revised

Prayer Book should be laid before the Church Assembly for final approval. In Canterbury Province twenty-one voted for the resolution and four against, and in the Province of York the decision Was unanimous. The Lower Houses of Convocation con- curred with the resolution by very large majorities. It is satisfactory that the extreme " Protestant " and the 'extreme " AngloXatholic " arguments have been overwhelmed by the general sense in favour of a Prover Book that is as comprehensive as possible. It was a strange irony that brought together those who condenliml the revised Communion Service because it yielded too much in the way of Reservation, and those who cu,. demned it because it did not concede nearly enough. The very fact that the outer wings are displeased suggests that the Bishops have hit on the golden mean.
