The average churchman is willing to accept the solemn declaration

in the new Preface that no change in the doctrine of the Communion Service is intended. It IS to be hoped that the Assembly in July will sanction the whole of the revision unequivocally, for if it appears that the many years of patient work spent upon revision have been thrown away, the chances of maintaining the comprehensiveness of the Church will be very poor indeed. Instead of the peace and orderliness which are now being made more than possible we shall have faction and revolt. If the Church Assembly records as clear an opinion as has been expressed by the Con. vocations, Parliament, we think, will not dispute the revision. * * * *
