There was a misleading cut in the second paragraph of

Anthony Storr's review of Richard Osborne's Rossini last week. The opening sentences should have read: 'Richard Osborne's book will redress that balance in Rossini's favour, and pave the way for suitable celebrations in 1992, the bicentenary of his birth. The last major work in English was a biography by Herbert Weinstock, published by OUP in 1968. This is a useful source book, replete with scholarly annotation, but not very readable.'
