Acting Edition of the Acharnians of Aristophanes. By G. Nor-

/mod, M.A. (Oxford : B. H. Blackwell. is. net.)—Professor Norwood gives us the Greek text, with a few modifications, on one side and a spirited translation in rhymed verse, most effec- tively done for the purpose, on the other. The Introduction gives ns explanations of various matters which the spectators of these revivals of the Athenian drama ought to understand. We quite agree with what Professor Norwood says about the Acharnians : 4‘ It is one of the most brilliant productions which the history of the drama can boast." Yet we must own to one scruple, and it concerns the most comic of all the scenes. The classical Society of University College, Cardiff, consists, we presume, of men and women.
