Goering enigma

Sir: Your article 'In the shadow of Nurem- berg' (18 November) reminds us that Goer- ing committed suicide on the day that he was to have been hanged. It was announced at the time that he had managed to keep a cyanide pellet throughout his capture by repeatedly passing it, suitably wrapped, through his digestive system. I did not believe this at the time, and still do not. Who provided him with the poison, and with whose official connivance?
