To-day, by the express direction of the King, is to

be observed as a day of general mourning. In regard to dress the wishes and needs of the public at large have been judi- ciously and considerately met by the intimation in Monday's Gazette to the effect that "after the 6th of March next it will not be desired or expected that the public should appear in deep mourning, but that Half Mourning should be worn until the 17th of April next."
