Sir: In his article in your issue of January 19

Edward Pearce went a long way towards opening the eyes, of those who are willing to see, to the realities of the power of the extreme left in this country and in particular in the unions, but I do not think he has gone as far as he usefully could have done. So many of the powerful unions are at the executive level dominated by the extreme left which is already reflected in the kind of parliamentary candidates that they support. Since the unions are the principal backers of the Labour movement the public should also be aware that these left-dominated unions are not only the pay masters but are also the puppet masters of the Labour movement — so let us all beware.
