The Head of the Family of GERINI. Drawn on Stone

by W. SHARP, from an original painting by CORREGIO, in the possession of NATHA- NIEL OGLE, Esq.

A tine head of a youth, remarkable for intenseness of look, and individuality uf character. We are rather disposed to consider it a good specimen of PARMEGIANI■ than a CORREGIO, not only from the striking resemblance it bears to the head of St. John in the picture by that master in the National Gallery, but from its breadth of manner and boldness of style. In its effect of chiaroscuro it undoubtedly resem- bles,in some degree, the peculiar style of CORREGW; but it has not the elaborate intricacy and minuteness in the disposition of lights and shadows in which that master loved to excel. A strong light falls on the upper part of the face, leaving the rest of the head in demi-tint, and the drapery and background in deep shadow. The chiaroscuro is skilfully preserved in the print, which is one of the most finished and effective specimens we have seen of Mr. SuArtr's lithography.
