IRISH POVERTY.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE SPECTATOR.

Liverpool, 31st December 1846.

SIR—I send you a return of live stock imported into this port from Ireland, during the present and for a corresponding period last year. I also send the ex- port of sugar to Ireland during the last month.

If it were not a question connected with Ireland, one would doubt the fact of famine existing in a country that has such surplus agricultural produce to dis- pose of, and which consumes such an increased quantity of sugar. Your obedient servant, Ixotarritn. Cattle imported into Liverpool from Ireland from the 1st January to the 28th December in 1845 and 1846, respectively.
