We have received from the Secretary of the General Medical

Council a copy of a letter which has appeared in the daily Press, and puts his Council's position in regard to Dr. Axham in a rather new light. The Council can only register " qualified " men : Dr. Axham is dis- qualified, having apparently (this is not directly stated) lost the qualifications which he held from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. If Dr. Axham wants to apply for restoration to the Council's Register, he must first seek re-qualification. The Secretary does not, of course, commit his Council, but in view of the opinion expressed by doctors we believe that an application would be well considered. Therefore we hope that steps may be taken by which his qualification may be restored by one or both of the Royal Colleges.
