ilia—Last July came the news of Sir Victor Horsley's death in Mesopotamia. We ought to have some record of his life and of his work ; we cannot afford to forget him, and what he did for medicine and surgery. I am collecting notes for a book. I hope that it will plainly show what we lost when we lost him. I ask for help in this venture from his friends and colleagues, and from the many patients, in hospital practice or in private practice, who have reason to be thankful for his skill and his kindness. I want all that they can tell me of him, and any letters of his which they will let me use. Without their help nothing that I can write of him will be of much service to anybody.
