In the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday, May 24th, M.

Poincare intervened in the debate on the Ruhr credits. He maintained that Germany was attempting to treat the Versailles Treaty as a scrap of paper, in spite of its financial terms being very favourable to her. He ex- pressed gratitude for Mr. Boner Law's friendly efforts, and spoke warmly of other members of the British Government. Finally, he assured the Chamber that France was not in a hurry and could afford to wait, that the production of coal from the Ruhr was increasing daily, and that all was being done in the interest of peace and the liberty of nations.
