NATIONAL ANIMAL WELFARE WEEK [To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.]

SIR,—I should be glad of the opportunity to remind your readers of the first National Animal Welfare Week, which begins on Sunday, May 3rd. It is the first to be held in England, and marks the centenary of the first Animal Protec- tion Act to be passed in this country. It has been warmly taken up by all districts.

During the week representatives of all the organizations interested in the welfare of animals are invited to join together in enlightening the public on the need for protection of animals. Demonstrations, meetings, and processions will be held all over the country. Enquiries and offers of help should be addressed to me at 36 Gordon Square, London, W.C.

(Hon. Organizing Secretary).
