Out of control

Sir: If, as his frequent denial of the country's alcohol problem suggests (`Another voice', 4 April), Auberon Waugh is himself in difficulties controlling his drinking we would be glad to try to help him! The first step, as in most such cases, would be to persuade him to face the facts. The national position was convincingly demonstrated by the Royal College of Physicians in their report, A Great and Growing Evil, published two days before Auberon Waugh's article.
