There has been more firmness in most departments of the

Stock Exchange this week, and the quotations have been on the advance. On Monday, Consols, both for money and the account, opened at 94 to 94i on Thursday (yesterday being observed as a class holiday), they left off at 944, ; Reduced and New Three per Cents., 92, 3. Bank Stock closed at 247 to 248; India Stock, 223; India Five per Cents., 113f ; India Bonds, 60s. to 64s. premium; Exchequer Bills, 27s. tp 30s. premium. Italian Stock has fluctuated considerably in price, but other foreign securities have maintained previeus values. About an average business has been transacted in Railway Shares, at barely the late advance in the quotations. Prime short bills have been discounted at 14 per cent. The stock of bullion in the Bank of England is 22,697,3881.; in the Bank of France, 36,853,000/.
