Sta r -Elizabeth Hanbury was born in 1793 (according to the D.N.B.)

and died in 1901, aged 108 years, 4 months, and 3 weeks. She thus also spanned three centuries and beat Mr. Carter's great-great-grand- father by a short head. Miss Hanbury had, moreover, a very active career, first in the anti-slavery movement, and later in charitable work as a minister of the Society of Friends,—Yours, &c., 10.
