Treasonable Tories

From Mr Bruce Shaxson Sir: Andrew Gimson (Tories: don't be slaves to the free market', 26 August) is mistaken when declaiming that all the Tories need is something much more con- servative than capitalism if they are to win back votes; and it is incorrect to claim that `Mr Hague and his friends ...defend our right to remain a self-governing nation', since we can fairly claim that, thanks to them, in many respects we are no longer independent.

We have been treated with the greatest contempt by past Conservative govern- ments, and have witnessed corruption and dishonesty over Europe; if given another chance, they will simply repeat their infideli- ties like any other political group.

The Tory indecision over the single cur- rency issue is simply premeditated treason. Their salvation is not the issue. The salva- tion of our country is.
