SIR,—May I add to Mr. Angus Watson's five points a sixth?— that any attempt on the part of any trade to maintain high wages by limiting the number practising that trade is a menace to the national welfare. It is quite possible that this is the battle-ground of the future. The principle needs resisting at the beginning. We are suffering now because the principle of the "pool" has been preached up and down the land for two years unchecked. A seventh principle would be: That the less work each does the less there is for others to do.—I am, Sir,
