BRITISH AIR LOSSES

Sta,—" Janus's " guardianship of the accuracy of the published figures of British air losses is intrinsically unconvincing. Few people doubt the accuracy of the figures anyhow; but they are disconcerted to find such equivocal reasoning as the paragraph in question.

" Janus's " " people in official positions " have assured him of the integrity of the figures of German air losses—but that is not the point. It was British losses that the American queried, not German. After his opening sentence " Janus " scamps the question altogether!
