TEARS OF COMPASSION

SnI,—I wonder why Katharine Gordon was moved to tears at the sight of the German prisoners in the procession. Was it the thought of the thousands who died to save the world from barbarism, or the many more thousands who perished in squalor and horror, or was it the thought of a distracted world still struggling through a morass of evil?
