Prose and cons

Sir: With regard to Mr Cole's review of my book (23 August), By the Waters of Whitechapel, I would like to point out that Senrab actually exists, in the East End of London. If Mr Cole would care to consult an A-Z, he will find it on page 66. section 4a.

Sir: Your reviewer, Barry Cole (23 August) should have consulted a London A-Z guide before taking Bernard Kops to task for his 'Senrab Street'. There is a street so named, after a popular but modest Councillor Barnes who demurred at having a street named after him, but eventually accepted the suggestion that his name should be spelled backwards.
