The Bishop ends by declaring that he is organizing central

and local committees throughout the diocese for the purposes of Church defence. Boldly he proclaims himself a fighting man. " The Apostles were all good fighters. . . . We can never keep the faith unless we fight for it. I have no respect for neutral, Laodicean, indolent Christians." The Bishop of Carlisle, we may remind our readers, is a man of specially wide and liberal views, and we do not doubt that his attitude will have thousands of imitators among men of like opinions. We venture to predict that the moment a Welsh Disestablishment Bill is actually before the country the politicians will be astounded by the amount of opposition, and fierce opposition, with which it will be received in totally unexpected quarters. Even those who are highly critical of many things in the Established Church will utterly refuse to tolerate the secularization of the State.
