On Wednesday it was announced that on Christmas Day the

Government invited the Prime Ministers of the self-governing Dominions to attend a series of special and continuous meet- ings of the War Cabinet "in order to consider urgent questions affecting the prosecution of the war, the possible conditions on which, in agreement with our Allies, we could assent to its termin- ation, and the problems which will then immediately arise. For the purpose of these meetings your Prime Minister would be a member of the War Cabinet." It was further announced that the Secretary of State for India would represent India at these meetings of the War Cabinet, and that two specially selected officials of the Indian Government would be sent from India to assist him.
