MR. GANDHI AND UNCLE SAM

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] Sin,—At the risk of being accused of being lacking in a sense of humour, may I remind Mr. Stephen Leacock that Mr. Gandhi is a life-long vegetarian, and although he confesses in his autobiography to having, on certain occasions in his home-town partaken surreptitiously of beef, the taste of turkey is entirely unknown to him ?—I am, Sir, &e., HY. S. L. POLAR. Danes Inn House, 265 Strand, W.C.2.
