THE TELEPHONE CABLES [To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] Sm,—My

attention has been drawn to a letter signed by Mr. H. Percy Mortimer in your last issue in reference to Post Office Telephone Cables supplied by my company. The Pirelli General Cable Works, Ltd., is a British company and all cables, telephone and other, supplied by it are manufactured at its works in Southampton and Eastleigh by British labour. The company and the factory were established in 1913 by the General Electric Co., Ltd., of London, who should need no introduction to your readers, in conjunction with Messrs. Pirelli, of Milan, who are one of the world's leading experts in cable manufacture.—I am, Sir, &c., MAURICE SOLOMON, Director.
