STILL REACTIONARY. -

Although markets have been quieter and, on the whole, steadier, during the past week they have not yet recovered the sharp setback following upon -the slump in Wall Street. Investment stocks thmushout have been Perfectly

steady and indeed, for some time past, the course of prices in the best class securities has confirmed the view taken in this coluinn with regard to the favourable outlook for invest- ment securities. - Oil shares, too, have been a good market, largely owing to the splendid results announced by the Royal Dutch and 'Shell companies, but industrials have moved uncertainly and Home Rails still fall.
