GENERAL ELECTRIC PROGRESS.

Although the latest annual report of the General Electric Company showed a somewhat smaller increase in profit than had been expected, the statement was none the less a good one, the profit of £1,057,867 showing an increase of about £27,000. The dividend was increased from 7i to 10 per cent., which called for £55,000 more. It was provided for out of increased profits, while £10,000 less was added to the reserve than last year. The liquid resources of the company in cash and British Government securities, as disclosed in the balance-sheet, is a very strong one, the total standing at £1,780,000, being an increase for the year of £476,000. It is satisfactory, moreover, to note that the directors consider that the increase in the dividend is justified by indications of a gradual recovery in industry. * *
