The Court of Chancery, on Thursday, directed that 400/. should

be paid out of the property in the hands of the Court belonging to Me Medhurst, a lunatic, to defray the expense of defending Francis Hast- ings Medhurst, the lunatic's grandson, from the charge of' murdering Joseph Alsop.

An ingenioue robbery was committed on Monday last, by which pro- perty to a considerable amount was fraudulently obtained. Two boxes of' gold-dust, valued at 4,600a, were landed at Fahnouth, from the Sea- gull packet, lately from Mexico. From Falmouth they were taken to the Dublin Steam-packet Wharf, London, consigned to the Brazilian Mining Compnny. At noon on Monday, a person claimed the two boxes, and presented an order for them, apparently in the same hand- writing as a letter received by the wharfinger the mune morning from Falmouth with the boxes. That letter stated, that the boxes were only ie he delivered to a gentleman who would call on Monday with an onler in the saute haudwriting as the letter. The " gentleman" accus mutely described the marks and took away the boxes ; but it was soon diseovered that he hail no title to them. A reward of 500/. has beat offered for his apprehension.

Two lions, " Bobby " and "the King of Prussia," forming part of the collection exhibited at the St. James's Theatre, died on Sunday, within a few hours of each other.
