A correspondent of the Morning Post asks, why an office

for the ." Registry of Colonial Slaves in Great Britain " is kept up, after the abolition of slavery ?

Another correspondent of the same paper calls attention to the state of the British mission in Persia. He says-

" Sir H. Bethune is living at Paris. and drawing 2,0001. a year from the Foreign Office for commanding the Sitait's army. The fact is, he is as actively emidoyed there as he was in Persia,1010re, for two years, he hail neither occu- pation nor authority. To conclude, the British officers and sergeants bout India stop at Bagdad. in Tnrkey, (like the mission at Erzeromm) being within call should the Shah relent. Can any thing be more undi,mitied: Envoy on leave 3,000/. a year.
