REPARATIONS.

The impending decisions of the Reparations Com- mission with regard to future plans for the settlement of German Reparations is not, of course, necessarily an un- favourable factor, but there is much uncertainty as to the result of the present deliberations, and because the issues either way, both politically and financially, are of great importance, it is the uncertainty which acts es a deterrent to financial activity, and that deterrent, be it noted, comes at a moment when markets are already, dull and leaves prices, therefore, without the support 'Sound of those wealthy buyers who are usually to be 'Sound hovering around a market when prices have fallen considerably. It may easily be, of course, that the final outcome of the German Reparations discussion may prove a bull rather than a bear factor to the Stock Markets, but meanwhile it is the uncertainty which counts.
