of Burmah" seem to us somewhat wanting in style. The English is too much of the newspaper kind. But there is a good deal that is curious and picturesque in them. Surely it cannot be right to speak of a man "feeling as if he dwelt no longer on earth, but in Nirvana?" Nirvana is a state, not a place. So is "heaven," some one may say, but we localise heaven in common speech.
