ADDING INSULT TO INJURY SIR, If " Janus " is

interested in mis-shapen and ill-constructed omnibus words, may I draw his attention to the fact that in official Ministry of Health circulars, air-raid casualties who have to undergo amputation of a limb are designated briefly as " amputees "?
