The inquest on Mr. Dean closed today at noon. The

Jury returned a verdict of "Manslaughter" against Robert Light/not; coupling with their verdict various suggestions as to the necessity of taking greater precautions to insure safety—of never sending passengers on the wrong line without their knowledge and consent—of making the servants of the Company intimately acquainted with the rules, &c. ; also declaring Raven unworthy of the confidence of the Company or the public ; and recommending a provision for Mr. Dean's widow.

A fourth accident on the Midland Counties Railway, but, thanks to lack, not fatal! A short railway is making. Northward of Derby, to join the line to some other, and the unfinished rails as yet extend for a length of about twenty yards only. The " plates " were left open on Thursday afternoon; a London train accidentally ran on to the unfi- nished line, and into the sand at the end. The engine was much da- maged, and the engineer's foot was seriously hurt ; but as the speed was not great, the passengers escaped with a thorough shaking, both bodily and mentally.

John Forrester arrived in town yesterday, with Burgess, the Bank- defrauder ; whom the keen-scented officer has after all hunted down -and captured. They came over in the Hibernia.

Burgess was briefly examined at the Mansiouhouse, today, and re- manded till Wednesday next.

At Warwick Assizes, on Thursday, James Leigh, Thomas Leigh, and two more, were convicted of riot and assault. The men, with twenty-five others, supporting the absurd claim preferred by one of them to Lord Leigh's estates, made a forcible entry into Stone- leigh Abbey, in October last ; and in the riot, Freeman, a labourer em- ployed by Lord Leigh, was hurt. Yesterday, the other twenty-five were tried on the same evidence; and found guilty of forcible entry, and some of assault on particular defenders of the mansion. James Leigh was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment with hard labour ; the other three tried with him, to twelve months' imprisonment with hard labour ; the rest, to three months imprisonment.
