For Honour's Sake. By Jennie Chappell. (S. W. Partridge and

Co.)—We cannot say that the people we read about in For Honour's Sake are very interesting. They have their troubles and trials, and the story of them is readable; but there is no dis- tinction about Alleyne Ross, Selina Fuller, or Helen Deveron, and they move but languidly across the stage of life. Concentration and less dialogue are wanted; and if the author had only realised that the aim in fiction is to obtain a selection of typical scenes, and not the whole series, we might have had an interesting tale. For Honour's Sake is readable, however, and will do no harm.
