The inquest on the bodies of those who were destroyed

by the boiler-explosion at Rochdale was brought to a close on Thursday; and the Jury returned the fol- lowing verdict in each case- .' That the deceased came by his death accidemally, from the explosion of the steam- boiler, caused by an undue pressure of steam ; that the safety-valve was detective in construction and neglected in condition; and that it appeared the mercurial steam- gauge w ts plugged with an Iron plug, and consequently useless."

The Jury also expressed their opinion that Richard Booth, the engine-driver, was incompetent for his situation, and that great blame attached to those who em- ployed such incompetent persons.
