The Poor-law Board has issued a reply, signed " Courtney,

Secretary," to the objections taken by the Boards of Guardians to the late prohibitory order. Lord Courtney defends the details of the order. He intimates that objections, nearly identical with those now taken, were made to the prohibitory order of 1841, which "is now the settled rule and practice in upwards of five hundred unions." He states that the Board decline to revoke the order of August last ; and that, "on the contrary, they must call upon the Guardians and their officers to use their best endeavours to bring it into operation."
