We have received The Calendar of University College, Dundee, 1886-87.

(Long and Co., Dundee.)—The College was founded some five years ago, by a munificent gift of £120,000 from Miss Baxter, a gift which was subsequently increased by 220,000 additional from this lady, and 210,000 from Dr. J. B. Baxter. We have great pleasure in calling attention to the programme of studies set forth in the volume before us. In these, a predominance, probably suited to the requirements of the case, is given to the scientific side. If we may venture a criticism on the constitution of the College, it is that the teachers are not adequately represented in the governing body. They elect one representative; but the great majority of the body have, it may be presumed, no practical acquaintance with education.
