SCIENCE FOR THE MILLION

SIR,-1 am gathering material for a study on the popularisation of science in Britain. I am particularly interested in the forms in which the new developments in science were explained popularly to audiences, at all levels, in the past hundred years. I would be grateful to receive either original material, which I would return, or references. Books, writings in periodicals and papers, publications of mechanics' institutes, lectures, exhibitions, all interest me.—Yours faithfully, MAURICE GOLDSMITH
