are many different reasons for liability to errors in. spelling in different cases. I may give my own case as one to which your theory does not apply. I used to spell well; now—I am not very far from forty years of age—I do not. In my case, the weakness comes from over. thought, I verily believe. From a knowledge of Latin and French I tend towards writing " litterary " and " resistence ;" and of late the latter language has urged me towards "neglige- able." In fact, I am now conscious of a silent discussion in. my mind as to the rights and wrongs of spelling; and that, in the case of our unphonetic tongue, is fatal.—I am, Sir, &a., W. L.
